At USCF’s 2026 US Chess Awards reception held during the 126th US Open in Grand Rapids, MI., this past weekend, CFCC’s Charles Hatherill was awarded Tournament Director of the Year for his tireless contributions in directing national, regional, and local chess tournament events around the country.
Charles, a USCF National Tournament Director and FIDE Arbiter, along with Senior Tournament Director Steven Vigil, both serve as CFCC’s chief tournament directors at all of our weekend tournament events.
CFCC President Larry Storch was in attendance at the awards reception and was able to provide a few pictures of the occasion!
